I layered this ruffled top over an oversized white button-down, then paired it with burgundy striped trousers instead of the obvious black. The green snakeskin bag adds one more competing element which is precisely why I like it.

WHY IT WORKS

The white shirt gives the ruffles structure and keeps the top half from becoming too precious. The wide-leg striped trousers balance the volume above, while the green bag adds another color and texture instead of trying to match anything. The outfit works because the pieces compete without fighting.
